The aims of the LUFC are to:

  • To promote the sport of fencing at the University of Liverpool and within the Merseyside Community.
  • To provide students with access to the sport and the opportunity to participate competitively whilst at university.
  • To represent the University of Liverpool at all levels of Competition in the British Universities Sports Association and in the British Fencing Association.
  • To compete in the annual Christie Cup against Fellow Northern Universities (Leeds and Manchester)
  • To have as much fun as possible!

    • Liverpool University Fencing Club is a part of the University of Liverpool’s Athletic Union.

    We compete at university level on the British Universities Sports College’s Sports leagues (BUCS) in the sport of fencing. We are currently in Division 1A (Northern Conference) for the women’s squads, and the 2A (Northern Conference) for the men’s first and seconds squads. We accept anyone of any level of talent from newcomers to experience fencers into the club. All that we ask is that you bring enthusiasm to the club. LUFC also participates in the Christie Cup against Manchester University and Leeds University every year. However it is not just our team members who are involved within competitions. LUFC sends out many of its members to domestic competitions around the UK to develop their skills and talents and most importantly to have fun!!!

    Membership Fees

    · Membership fees for LUFC are £30 for the entire year which covers coaching costs and includes the £17.50 AU fee allowing registration with other clubs for only £12.50, if you already have AU membership then LUFC membership will cost £12.50.

    · Kit can be rented from the club at a nominal fee of £2.50 every week to cover cleaning and repair costs

    · There is a fee of £2.80 for students (further prices can be found here) to enter the sports centre, however for University of Liverpool Students it is possible to purchase a gym pass which will provide better value, up to date price information can be found from the Sport Liverpool Website
